“I first started working on RCD compliance software back in 1997 while working as a Notified Body Certification Manager. Since that time, the RCD has been through re-drafts and amendments on its journey to harmonisation. CE Proof’s own consultants have been test driving CE-Pro™ through its development phases. By reducing the thousands of requirements of the standards to just those applicable to an individual project, and presenting them in a straightforward and helpful way, CE-Pro™ is a breakthrough in compliance accuracy with massively reduced processing time. This brings very significant cost savings” Alasdair Reay |

Alasdair is a Naval Architecture graduate of University College London and started his career with Lloyds Register on their Graduate Training Program. With the wide ranging experience offered by LR around the world, Alasdair soon gained Chartered Engineer status and full membership of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects. Alasdair finished his time at LR in the London-based Special Service Craft Department. In this post Alasdair was closely involved in the development of LR's software supporting the LR Special Service Craft Rules. On completion of these Rules in 1997, Alasdair joined AEA Technology plc , a recently privatised company splintered from the UK Atomic Energy Authority. AEA Technology was already a Notified Body (certifier) for other EU Directives and Alasdair oversaw accreditation for RCD Notified Body status soon after arriving. As the Certification Manager for the UK's only RCD Notified Body, Alasdair was instrumental in helping a wide range of boat builders comply with the RCD which became mandatory in 1998. Alasdair was a regular attendee of the RSG (Recreational Craft Sectoral Group) during this time and played host to the group at Culham, near Oxford in 2000. Alasdair left AEA Technology in 2000 and after a brief spell at ABS Group, the consultancy arm of the American Bureau of Shipping, joined CE Proof Ltd in July 2001. Since joining CE Proof Alasdair and his colleagues have been developing RCD software to streamline the large number of processes that are required to both produce the technical documentation and correctly relate it to compliance on the boat. Initially intended as an internal tool for CE Proof's own consultants, this software has now been refined and extended to provide an all in one solution for CE Proof's clients to manage their RCD obligations. Branded as CE-Pro™, this bespoke package is now uniquely available to the boatbuilding industry as an alternative to the traditional consulting services. |
